Harvest 2011 started on August 28th, our daughter Payton's birthday.  And like the trooper she is, was out picking clods this hot fall day.

Harvest went fairly smoothly with the common bumps here and there but crop yields were better than anticipated. Potato varieties this year included Russet Burbank's, Northland Reds, and Ranger Russets.

Harvest concluded on October 24th, the longest Harvest ever experienced for the farm.  Without the tremendous crew at Lakeview Ag, harvest 2011 would not have been possible.  Even though everyone was exhausted, there was still time made for pizza and contests conducted.

Lakeview Ag gives a big THANK YOU to all who participated in any way.  Grandparents to grandchildren could be seen working by the road-side.  The ladies and men that worked on the tables, the equipment operators, the "moms" that made sure everyone was fed, and especially our family.  One person that transformed from a boy to a man was our nephew, Andrew.  Most twelve-year-old boys only play in the dirt with their Tonka trucks.  Not Andrew, he loaded every single load of potatoes onto the semis for delivery to Conagra/Lamb Weston.  This twelve-year-old stayed at the Fehringer home and got up and went to bed when Russ did.  This "little man" popped up out of bed each morning ready to load those potatoes for the day.

There were also many days the girls in the family had to learn what mom's dealt with on a daily schedule.  Niece, Morgan 16, took care of little sister Abby while here mom and dad drove truck.  Morgan and Abby also could be seen on the tables as well.  Payton and Morgan's responsibility was a heavy one making sure the cows were taken care of and the show cows were exercised, nutritional needs met, and their hair managed daily.  They did an excellent job which showed this year in Denver by winning the Reserve Grand Champion pen of three Heifer Show.  Photos may be seen by visiting: www.lakeviewcattlecompany.com.

Lakeview Ag is blessed by the plentiful crop and safety of all.
